RSF drone attack kills 24 people fleeing fighting in central Sudan

A drone attack by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces hit a vehicle carrying displaced families in North Kordofan, killing at least 24 people, including eight children, doctors said.

The strike occurred near Er Rahad as families fled fighting, and wounded survivors were taken to hospitals already struggling with severe shortages.

The attack came amid a surge in drone strikes, including one that destroyed a World Food Programme aid convoy and another near a WFP facility, drawing international condemnation.

Aid groups and rights organizations accused the RSF of war crimes and warned that attacks on civilians and humanitarian operations are worsening Sudan’s humanitarian catastrophe, The Guardian has reported.

The war, now nearly three years old, has killed more than 40,000 people, displaced over 14 million, and pushed large parts of the country deeper into famine.
