Russian authorities have detained a man accused of shooting a senior military intelligence official in Moscow, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB).
The suspect, Russian national Lyubomir Korba, was arrested in Dubai after fleeing Russia hours after the attack and was extradited with help from UAE authorities.
He is accused of ambushing and shooting Deputy Military Intelligence Chief Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev in his apartment building, leaving him seriously wounded but alive after surgery.
Russia’s president thanked the UAE for its cooperation, while the FSB said one alleged accomplice was arrested in Moscow and another fled to Ukraine, Al-Jazeera has reported.
Authorities said the search for those who organized the attack is still ongoing.
