10 Dead and 25 Injured in Shooting at School and Home in Canada

A school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, northern British Columbia, left seven people dead at the school and two more at a nearby home, with the suspected female shooter also found dead from an apparent self-inflicted wound.

Over 25 people were injured, including two airlifted with life-threatening injuries, after the attack at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, which serves 175 students.

Police arrived within two minutes, and investigators are still probing the shooter’s motive and connection to the victims.

The community of 2,700 is reeling, with schools closed for the rest of the week and families awaiting confirmation of victims’ identities, the AP has reported.

Canadian leaders, including Prime Minister Mark Carney, expressed shock and grief, noting the rarity of school shootings in Canada and the country’s strict gun control laws.
