An 18-year-old gunman opened fire at Patongprathankiriwat School in Hat Yai, southern Thailand, on Wednesday, injuring at least three people.
Authorities detained the shooter and freed all hostages, according to police officials.
The incident occurred in Songkhla Province and prompted a swift law enforcement response.
Gun violence is relatively common in Thailand, which experienced a 2022 attack by a former police officer that killed 36 people, including 22 children, NBC News has reported.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the Hat Yai school shooting.
