A passenger plane carrying 55 people overran the runway and ended up in shallow water at a beach near Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport during an emergency landing on Tuesday.
The Starsky Aviation flight, bound for Gaalkacyo, experienced a technical problem about 15 minutes after takeoff.
All 50 passengers and 5 crew members were safely evacuated, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The aircraft was damaged, but rescue teams confirmed everyone aboard was accounted for, the AP has reported.
Somali authorities said the cause of the runway overrun will be fully investigated.
