China’s humanoid robot masters stunning sword dance, shows perfect control

China’s Robotera released a video of its full-sized L7 humanoid robot performing a traditional Chinese sword dance to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse, highlighting its advanced capabilities.

Standing 5.6 feet tall and weighing 143 pounds, the L7 has 55 independently moving joints, enabling intricate movements like arm rotation, wrist flipping, and grip adjustment.

The sword dance demonstrates the robot’s real-time whole-body coordination, precise torque control, and balance, made possible by its embedded AI system.

Beyond performance, the L7 is designed for practical applications, capable of running at 9 mph, lifting 44 pounds, and performing factory or service tasks with teleoperation, Interesting Engineering has reported.

The display emphasizes Robotera’s focus on mature embodied control, showing that high-speed, precise humanoid movement could soon translate to real-world industrial and logistical roles.
