NASA has begun the second wet dress rehearsal for the Artemis II mission at Kennedy Space Center, with a simulated launch window set for Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
The multi-day test runs through full launch operations, including loading cryogenic propellant into the Space Launch System rocket and practicing countdown procedures.
Teams at Johnson Space Center and other NASA centers are supporting the exercise to ensure readiness for a potential March launch.
While the Artemis II crew won’t participate directly, the rehearsal includes milestones they would follow on launch day, and the closeout crew will practice closing the Orion module and launch abort system hatches, WFTV 9 has reported.
After fueling, propellant will be drained and all data reviewed before NASA sets an official launch date for the mission, which will send four astronauts around the moon and back.
