Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office following revelations in files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Thames Valley Police said the arrest was part of an ongoing assessment into claims that he shared confidential government information while serving as a trade envoy.

Officers searched properties in Norfolk and Berkshire, including residences on royal estates, before releasing him under investigation later that day.

The alleged offense carries a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment if charges are brought, CBS News has reported.
