Armed man shot and killed after entering secure perimeter of Mar-a-Lago

A 21-year-old man, identified as Austin Tucker Martin from North Carolina, was shot and killed by Secret Service and local deputies after driving into the secure perimeter of Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, early Sunday morning.

He was armed with a shotgun and carrying a gas can when confronted around 1:30 a.m., but former President Donald Trump was at the White House at the time.

Authorities said Martin had recently been reported missing by his family, and investigators are working to determine his motive and compile a psychological profile.

The man raised the shotgun when ordered to drop his weapons, prompting officers to fire and neutralize the threat, the AP has reported.

The FBI and local authorities are reviewing security footage and dedicating resources to the investigation.
