A missile strike on a girls’ school in Minab, southern Iran, has killed 165 people and wounded 96, according to state media, marking the deadliest incident so far in the U.S.-Israeli bombing campaign on Iran.
Images and videos from the scene show a partially collapsed, burning building, with people searching through rubble for victims and retrieving schoolbags and textbooks.
The school was located next to an Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps barracks, and U.S. Central Command said it is reviewing reports of civilian casualties.
Iran’s health ministry called the attack “the most bitter news” of the conflict, highlighting the tragedy of so many children killed, The Guardian has reported.
Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai condemned the strike, urging justice and accountability and emphasizing the need to protect civilians and schools under international law.
