Danise Baird, the wife of Indiana Rep. Jim Baird, has died from complications related to a car crash in January involving the couple, according to the congressman’s office.

The couple had been married for 59 years and have three children, with the office describing her as a devoted wife and mother.

Both were hospitalized after the accident, and Baird had previously said they were recovering, though details about their injuries were not disclosed.

Colleagues including Pete Stauber, Lisa McClain, and Elise Stefanik offered condolences and praised Danise Baird’s support for her husband’s work in Congress, CBS News has reported.

President Trump had earlier called the crash a “bad accident.”
