Epstein files: House committee subpoenas Attorney General Pam Bondi

The House Oversight Committee voted 24-19 to subpoena Pam Bondi for a deposition regarding the DOJ’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation and its compliance with the Epstein Transparency Act.

The subpoena follows criticism that the Department of Justice removed tens of thousands of previously public Epstein documents, despite the law requiring all files, including those related to Ghislaine Maxwell, to be released.

Rep. Nancy Mace introduced the motion, calling the suppression of files “one of the greatest cover-ups in American history.”

Some of the withheld materials reportedly included FBI interview notes, including those from a woman alleging abuse by Donald Trump as a minor, though Trump has not been charged, CNBC has reported.

Reports indicate that as of late February, the DOJ had removed over 47,000 files totaling about 65,500 pages from public access.
