U.S. forces have joined Ecuadorian troops in military operations targeting groups designated as “terrorist organizations” inside Ecuador, part of an ongoing regional campaign against narco-terrorism.

The operations, announced by U.S. Southern Command, are an extension of past actions against drug trafficking networks, including maritime strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific.
