Former presidents, mourners are gathering to honor Rev. Jesse Jackson

Thousands gathered in Chicago on March 6 to celebrate the life of civil rights icon Rev. Jesse Jackson, who died Feb. 17 at age 84.

Jackson, a longtime advocate for social justice, worked alongside Martin Luther King Jr., led Operation Breadbasket, and founded the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

Attendees included former presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and first ladies, with performances by Jennifer Hudson and BeBe Winans.

Speakers highlighted Jackson’s global impact and personal influence, emphasizing his belief that every child has potential and his lifelong dedication to justice, USA Today has reported.

The celebration, called “The People’s Celebration,” drew locals and supporters reflecting on Jackson’s legacy of advocacy, service, and inspiring others to use their voices.
