Mother and daughter reported dead after tornado strikes northern Oklahoma

A mother and daughter were killed Thursday night when their vehicle was struck by a tornado west of Fairview, Oklahoma, near State Highways 60 and 243, authorities said.

The Major County Sheriff’s Office reported the pair had gone missing earlier in the evening after losing contact while on the phone.

Damage to the vehicle indicated it had been hit directly by the tornado, according to Sheriff Tony Robinson.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is now investigating the incident, KOCO 5 News has reported.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims.
