China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, emphasized the importance of continued engagement with the United States and signaled that preparations are underway for a planned summit between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump later this month.
He said high‑level exchanges are “already on the table” and urged both sides to prepare thoroughly, manage differences, and avoid actions that could lead to misunderstanding or confrontation.
Wang warned that turning away from dialogue would increase the risk of miscalculation and global instability.
While Beijing has yet to officially confirm the dates for Trump’s visit — expected March 31–April 2 — China has expressed a positive and open attitude toward improved ties, even amid disputes over the war in Iran and trade tariffs, CNBC has reported.
Wang also reiterated calls for peace and a ceasefire in the Iran conflict, stressing dialogue as a way to address global challenges.
