Georgia race to replace Marjorie Taylor Greene heads to a runoff

The special election to replace former Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is headed to a runoff after no candidate won a majority.

Republican Clay Fuller, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, will face Democrat Shawn Harris on 7 April for Georgia’s 14th congressional district.

Fuller’s campaign echoes Trump’s priorities, including tough-on-crime policies and stricter immigration enforcement, while Harris emphasizes bipartisanship and local service.

Greene’s controversial legacy and her feud with Trump influenced voter decisions, with the crowded 17-candidate field splitting the Republican vote, the BBC has reported.

The winner will serve the remainder of Greene’s term and immediately begin campaigning for a full term in the November midterms.
