Army sergeant wants to plead guilty in Georgia base shootings that injured 5

Sgt. Quornelius Radford, 28, accused of shooting five co-workers at Fort Stewart, Georgia, last August, is seeking to plead guilty to a reduced set of charges in a military court.

Radford allegedly used a personal handgun to fire on members of his supply unit, injuring four soldiers and a civilian partner, before being disarmed by bystanders.

He originally faced 13 criminal counts, including six attempted murders and six aggravated assaults, but now plans to plead guilty to two counts of attempted murder, three of aggravated assault, and one of domestic violence.

No plea deal has been negotiated, meaning he could still face a life sentence if the military judge accepts the plea, the AP has reported.

Soldiers at Fort Stewart were credited with saving lives by rendering first aid and restraining Radford, with six receiving Meritorious Service Medals for their actions.
