Trump says he’s not ready to declare victory in Iran

President Donald Trump said Sunday he is not ready to declare victory over Iran, despite claiming the U.S. has inflicted severe military and economic damage.

Speaking to The Hill on Air Force One, he said Iran is “decimated” and would take “10 years and more” to rebuild if U.S. forces withdrew, but he stopped short of calling the conflict won.

Trump did not clarify whether he is considering sending ground troops into Iran.

Earlier, he described a recent bombing raid on Kharg Island as “one of the most powerful in the history of the Middle East,” targeting all military facilities there, The Hill has reported.

The strikes followed remarks by Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, threatening to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed amid ongoing hostilities.
