World’s first robot arrest? Humanoid Detained by police after harassing elderly woman

A humanoid robot in Macau was temporarily taken into custody after reportedly startling and “harassing” an elderly woman on a public street.

Video shows the nearly 70-year-old woman yelling at the robot, which raised its arms twice as she berated it.

The machine belonged to an education center and was being operated remotely with mixed programming; it was later returned to its 50-year-old operator, who apologized and received a warning from authorities.

The robot, a Unitree G1, stands 130 cm tall, weighs 77 pounds, and features 360-degree cameras, a speaker, and 23–43 joint motors, enabling human-like flexibility and movement, the U.S. Sun has reported.

The incident highlights the increasing presence of humanoid robots on streets worldwide and raises questions about public interaction with AI-driven machines.
