Thousands flocked to popular beaches like Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach, prompting the sheriff’s office to issue cease-and-desist letters to online event organizers.

Law enforcement also seized six guns and handled incidents involving minors under the influence.

A viral video showed crowds stampeding on the beach over what people thought were gunshots, but deputies confirmed the noise came from crushed water bottles, the USA Today has reported.

Authorities established a special event zone with enhanced penalties to deter unsafe gatherings and announced potential financial and legal actions against organizers.
