A delivery robot in Philadelphia kept rolling despite being sat on and vandalized, video footage shows, highlighting the mixed reactions to robots in city streets.
The robot, made by Avride and deployed for Uber Eats deliveries, remained operational even after graffiti reading “Destroy me plz” was scrawled on it.
Photographer HughE Dillon captured the incident on March 14, posting it online where it drew reactions ranging from surprise to admiration for the robot’s resilience.
Avride partnered with Uber in 2024 to deploy delivery robots and autonomous vehicles in multiple cities, allowing customers to order food via app, USA Today has reported.
While some viewers criticized the robot’s presence, others defended it as “cute and fun,” reflecting growing public ambivalence toward urban delivery robots.
