Israel to advance ground operations in Lebanon after striking key bridge

The Israeli military announced an expansion of its ground campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, calling it a prolonged operation.

Israeli forces targeted bridges over the Litani River used by Hezbollah to move fighters, causing extensive damage to infrastructure, homes, and electricity networks.

Lebanon condemned the strikes as violations of its sovereignty, while clashes continue in southern towns including Tyre, Taybeh, and Maroun al-Ras.

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks on Israeli troops and bases, while Israel has killed at least one of the group’s elite commanders, the AFP has reported.

The conflict has killed over 1,000 people in Lebanon, displaced more than a million, and prompted Israel to warn southern residents to evacuate.
