A McDonald’s restaurant in Shanghai, China, has introduced humanoid robots built by Keenon Robotics to greet customers, serve meals, collect trays, and provide information.
The robots, including Keenon’s first bipedal Dinerbot T10, were showcased at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai and aim to enhance customer experience while letting staff focus on accuracy and presentation.
Keenon, founded in 2010, has previously deployed robots in supermarkets, hotels, and a Burger King in Finland, where they proved popular with families.
McDonald’s operates over 6,000 restaurants in China, more than double its 2017 presence, including over 500 in Shanghai, NRN has reported.
The fast-food chain plans to expand its Chinese footprint to over 10,000 outlets by 2028.
