An Air Canada Express flight operated by Jazz Aviation collided with a fire truck on a LaGuardia Airport runway, killing the pilot and co-pilot.
The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900, struck the Port Authority rescue vehicle responding to a separate incident late Sunday.
Two officers in the fire truck were hospitalized with broken limbs but are in stable condition, and no other major injuries were reported among the 72 passengers and four crew on board.
The collision occurred as the plane was landing at about 30 mph, severely damaging the forward fuselage, NBC News has reported.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board have launched investigations, and the airport was temporarily closed following the accident.
