A Hawaii doctor is on trial for attempted murder after his wife, Arielle Konig, testified that he attacked her during a hike on Oahu in March 2025.

She told the court that Gerhardt Konig tried to push her off a cliff, inject her with a syringe, and struck her repeatedly with a rock.

Prosecutors say the attack was deliberate, while the defense claims he acted in self-defense after believing she tried to push him.

Arielle described fighting back and being saved when nearby hikers intervened and called 911, NBC News has reported.

She also noted the incident came months after marital tensions related to an emotional affair, though they had been attempting reconciliation.
