A U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to protect Jill Biden accidentally shot himself in the leg at Philadelphia International Airport during what officials described as a “negligent discharge” of his firearm.

The incident occurred while the agent was traveling in an unmarked vehicle, and no one else was injured.

He was taken to a local hospital and reported to be in stable condition, according to Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi.

Authorities said the former first lady was not present at the time of the incident, the AP has reported.

Airport operations were not disrupted following the shooting.
