Snow and stormy winds close schools and roads, and cut power in Balkan’s

Severe storms bringing strong winds, rain, and snow have disrupted parts of Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, closing schools and cutting power to over 15,000 people.

In Slovenia, wind gusts reached up to 141 kph, knocking down trees and blocking roads across multiple regions.

In Zagreb, strong winds damaged infrastructure, uprooted trees, and caused minor injuries, prompting officials to suspend classes and urge residents to stay indoors.

Snow and hazardous conditions also led to traffic disruptions and road closures across Croatia and Bosnia, the AP has reported.

Experts note that such extreme weather events may be linked to broader patterns of climate change.
