After a large “No Kings” demonstration, a group of protesters gathered outside the Portland Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.
The crowd forced open a gate, prompting federal agents and local police to push protesters back while officers reported being struck with large rocks.
Protesters damaged the gate again, burned flags, and one individual reportedly climbed onto the building’s roof and vandalized it.
Police said they declared a riot and ordered the crowd to disperse as federal authorities secured the facility, KPTV Fox 12 has reported.
Several arrests were made on charges including criminal mischief and trespassing following the confrontation.
