At least 70 killed, 30 wounded in Haiti gang attack, rights group says

At least 70 people were killed and dozens injured in a gang attack in Haiti’s Artibonite region, far higher than initial official estimates of around 16 deaths.

Armed gang members stormed rural communities, burning homes and displacing thousands of residents.

The violence is believed to be linked to retaliation between rival gangs, with the Gran Grif group suspected of carrying out the हमला.

Authorities responded late, and police launched an operation after the attackers had already fled, Al-Jazeera has reported.

The massacre highlights Haiti’s worsening security crisis, where gang violence has killed thousands and displaced over a million people in recent years.
