Israel’s defense minister Israel Katz said the country plans to destroy homes in Lebanese border villages and prevent displaced residents from returning until northern Israel is secure.
He outlined plans to create a buffer zone in southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, where Israeli forces would maintain control after the war with Hezbollah.
The conflict has displaced over 1.2 million people and killed more than 1,200 in Lebanon since fighting escalated in early March.
Israel says it aims to eliminate Hezbollah fighters and infrastructure, citing thousands of rockets and drones launched at its territory, the HuffPost has reported.
