Trump suggests he will attend birthright citizenship arguments at Supreme Court

Donald Trump said he plans to attend Supreme Court of the United States oral arguments on Wednesday regarding his birthright citizenship executive order, which would mark a first for a sitting president.

He argues that the 14th Amendment was intended only to grant citizenship to children of former slaves, a view widely rejected by legal scholars and precedent.

His executive order seeks to limit citizenship for children born to undocumented immigrants or those on temporary visas, but lower courts have blocked it.

The Supreme Court is now hearing the administration’s appeal to overturn those rulings and allow the policy to take effect, Politico has reported.

Trump has previously criticized the court and its justices while continuing to push for his position on the issue.
