President Donald Trump said U.S. forces will “finish the job” in Iran soon, claiming key objectives are nearing completion and suggesting operations could end within two to three weeks.
His remarks came in his first national address since the conflict began more than a month ago, during which he also asserted that Iran’s president was seeking a ceasefire, a claim denied by Iranian officials.
Meanwhile, the U.S. is increasing its military presence in the region, including deploying an aircraft carrier strike group and additional troops.
The war has resulted in significant casualties across Iran, Lebanon, Israel, and among U.S. personnel, the AP has reported.
Millions of people have been displaced as the conflict continues to escalate.
