3 Greek ministers quit as EU investigates alleged farm subsidy fraud

Three Greek government ministers resigned amid a European investigation into alleged fraud involving EU farm subsidies.

The ministers, including the agriculture, civil protection, and deputy health portfolios, denied wrongdoing and said they stepped down to support the probe.

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating misuse of funds tied to false claims for land and livestock and is seeking immunity waivers for multiple lawmakers.

The scandal has led to public anger, earlier resignations, and disruptions in subsidy payments that have affected farmers, the AP has reported.

In response, the government quickly reshuffled its cabinet while the investigation continues.
