A coalition of more than 40 countries has been formed to work toward reopening and securing safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz after the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
The initiative, led in part by UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, aims to use diplomatic, economic, and potential military tools to restore free navigation in the vital shipping lane.
Officials warned that disruptions in the strait have already impacted global energy supplies and increased economic pressures worldwide.
Some members, including European Union representatives, are also considering measures such as sanctions, demining efforts, and escort operations once conditions allow, Euro News has reported.
The coalition’s initial meeting focused on coordination and assessment, with further steps expected as the situation develops.
