Germany has conducted its largest military medical exercise in decades as part of NATO’s “Quadriga 2026” drills, simulating the evacuation of large numbers of soldiers from Lithuania to German hospitals.

The exercise highlights growing concern in Europe over a potential large-scale conflict with Russia, especially following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Officials warn current systems may be unprepared, with German hospitals already identified as lacking sufficient crisis readiness.

Military leaders say the threat is urgent, with projections that Russia could be capable of a major war against NATO by 2029, the Express has reported.

In response, Germany and other European countries are significantly increasing defense spending and military preparedness.
