Small plane makes emergency landing on busy Pennsylvania highway

A small plane made an emergency landing on Interstate 78 in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, on Saturday morning due to reported engine problems.

The aircraft, a 1995 Commander 114B, was carrying a 65-year-old pilot from Michigan and a 34-year-old passenger from New Jersey, both of whom were not injured.

The pilot had been attempting to reach a nearby airport after departing New Jersey en route to Indiana but was forced to land on the highway.

The landing caused traffic disruptions as authorities closed lanes and diverted vehicles while first responders investigated, NBC 10 Philadelphia has reported.

The incident is under review by the Federal Aviation Administration, and the plane was later towed from the scene.
