Home of Indianapolis city councilor shot at over his support of datacenters

Indianapolis city councilor Ron Gibson reported that his home was shot at Monday, with a threatening note referencing opposition to datacenters left at the scene.

Police said about 13 shots were fired, and an eight-year-old child was inside the home at the time, though no injuries were reported.

Authorities described the incident as a targeted attack and said the FBI is assisting with the investigation.

The case comes shortly after Gibson supported a large datacenter project in his district, which had recently been approved, The Guardian has reported.

City officials and colleagues condemned the violence, calling it a dangerous escalation tied to political differences.
