A human skull was discovered during an Easter egg hunt at De Forest Park in Long Beach, authorities said.

Police confirmed the remains were human, and a jawbone was also found nearby by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The discovery was made Sunday afternoon near a walking trail during an independent event at the park.

Officials have not released further details about the remains, NBC News has reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
