A 23-year-old Texas man, Emmanuel Ahsono Mbwavi, was arrested after allegedly bringing a loaded gun and more than 100 rounds of ammunition into a Houston church.

Security at Eden Church recognized him from a prior incident and monitored his behavior before confronting him.

A security guard saw Mbwavi reach for his firearm and tackled him before he could open fire, while others helped restrain him.

Court documents say he also made threatening statements and was holding a phone that appeared to show a countdown, raising concerns about a possible additional threat, Fox News has reported.

He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
