Bondi defies House subpoena over Epstein

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi will not appear for a scheduled deposition before the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, according to Republican committee officials.

The Department of Justice said her subpoena was issued in her capacity as attorney general, and since she no longer holds that role, her appearance is being reconsidered.

However, the subpoena has not been withdrawn, and committee leaders say she could still be compelled to testify.

Democrats argue she remains legally obligated regardless of her position and have threatened contempt proceedings if she does not comply, Fox News has reported.

The dispute highlights ongoing partisan tensions over the Jeffrey Epstein investigation and the scope of congressional oversight.
