Suspect arrested, charged after US Marine stabbed to death in chaotic North Carolina street brawl

A suspect, Davy Spencer, 47, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a chaotic downtown Wilmington, North Carolina brawl that left U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Daniel Montano, 21, dead.

Police said officers responded early Sunday morning to multiple fights and stabbing reports in the city’s nightlife district, where Montano was found severely wounded before later dying from his injuries.

Another man was also stabbed but survived after police applied a tourniquet and provided emergency aid.

Authorities say the situation was fast-moving and dangerous, with officers struggling to identify suspects and victims amid the chaos, and bodycam footage has prompted scrutiny of their response, Fox News has reported.

The motive for the violence remains unclear as investigations continue.
