In his second speech in as many days in Normandy, President Biden focused on rallying support for Ukraine amidst its war with Russia.
He invoked the bravery of the Army Rangers from D-Day, suggesting they would support defending freedom against Putin’s aggression in Europe today.
Although Biden did not mention his Republican rival, Donald Trump, directly, he criticized isolationist tendencies, implying a rebuke of Trump, France24 has reported.
Emphasizing the importance of remembering the Rangers’ heroism, Biden called for Americans to uphold the values they fought for.
His speech at Pointe du Hoc, reminiscent of Ronald Reagan’s D-Day commemoration, aimed to draw a connection from World War II through the Cold War to the current conflict involving NATO and Russia.
