President Joe Biden held a 30-minute phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, their first conversation in nearly two months, to discuss Israel’s response to an Iranian missile attack.
Biden urged a “proportional” retaliation and condemned the Iranian strike but did not elaborate on Israel’s plans.
The call reflects growing tensions between the two leaders, with Biden frustrated over Netanyahu’s dismissiveness of his advice, particularly regarding escalating violence in the region, CNN has reported.
They also discussed Lebanon and humanitarian aid in Gaza, with Biden pushing for diplomacy and minimizing civilian harm.
