Authorities confirmed that a human head found on Key Biscayne beach belongs to 19-year-old Victor Enrique Castaneda Jr., who went missing while swimming near South Pointe Drive.

Castaneda disappeared Saturday evening after saving his 17-year-old sister’s life in the water.

Despite an extensive search by rescue teams, he was not found.

The remains were identified days later, and the cause of death is still under investigation.

Castaneda’s family described him as selfless, joyful, and a hero for saving his sister, WSVN has reported.

Miami Beach Police extended condolences and support to the grieving family.
