The purge includes senior officials overseeing criminal, national security, and cyber investigations.

The FBI has declined to comment on the moves, which come amid a broader wave of terminations in the Trump administration, NBC News has reported.

Trump has appointed Kash Patel to lead the FBI in his second term, with Patel pledging no retributive actions.
