European leaders are meeting in France for an emergency summit on Ukraine following the Trump administration’s announcement of talks with Russia to end the war without European involvement.

UK leader Keir Starmer called the summit a critical moment for national security.

The US shift in approach has raised concerns in Europe that key concessions might be made to Russia.

US officials are set to begin preliminary talks in Saudi Arabia, but Ukraine has refused to attend, with President Zelensky stressing that Ukraine should not be excluded from negotiations, CNN has reported.

European leaders, including those from Germany, Italy, and NATO, are attending the summit, with French President Macron emphasizing Europe’s role in peace efforts.
