R. Kelly’s lawyers allege he overdosed on medication provided by prison staff while in solitary confinement on June 12, leading to his hospitalization the next day.
They claim he was given an “overdose quantity” of anxiety and sleep meds and was later removed from Duke University Hospital against medical advice.
The incident follows claims that prison officials plotted to have him killed and placed him in solitary confinement after his legal team filed an emergency motion for release, USA Today has reported.
His attorney says the situation is dire and is again appealing to former President Trump for a pardon, claiming Kelly’s life is at risk.
