A head-on collision between two buses on Uganda’s Kampala-Gulu Highway left 46 people dead and multiple others injured, authorities reported.
The crash occurred early Wednesday near Kitaleba Village when both buses were attempting to overtake other vehicles, resulting in a head-on impact and a chain reaction that overturned additional cars.
Earlier reports had mistakenly listed 63 fatalities, as some unconscious victims were initially counted as dead.
The bodies were taken to a hospital mortuary for post-mortem and identification, People has reported.
Police warned the public to exercise caution on the roads, emphasizing that reckless overtaking is a leading cause of accidents in the country.
