DHS alleges criminal illegal alien ‘rammed law enforcement’ in California operation, agent fired weapon

A federal agent fired shots Wednesday in Compton, California, after a criminal illegal immigrant, William Eduardo Moran Carballo, allegedly used his vehicle to ram law enforcement while trying to evade arrest.

Carballo, from El Salvador, was targeted for involvement in human smuggling and prior domestic violence arrests.

The DHS said the agent fired in self-defense, and while Carballo was unharmed, a CBP officer was injured.

Carballo attempted to flee on foot but was ultimately apprehended, and he had a final order of removal issued in 2019, Fox News has reported.

DHS described the incident as part of a broader rise in vehicle attacks on officers, while the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department provided perimeter support but was not directly involved.
